Blatant Ask
Please Help Support the AAMDS Foundation
Then
Hey Folks -
Almost eleven years after my diagnosis of the rare blood disorder Severe Aplastic Anemia, I am again participating in the 2026 March for Marrow - California Virtual Walk and 5K. This time, I’ll be supporting the March from afar, as I’ll be in my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. My family and I will be cheering for my son and his NYU Track and Field team as they compete at Case Western Reserve University.
I’m not a mathematician, but my kid will be running not a 5K, but a 5000K race that weekend, and has walked the March with me many times. That’s a lot more K’s. He has increasing his mileage, and I’m upping my fundraising goal. I hope you’ll consider supporting the AAMDS Foundation by helping me to raise money to benefit the Aplastic Anemia and MDS International Foundation, a cause very important to me.
I’ve been leading support groups for the foundation for years. Twice monthly, I see firsthand how crucial AAMDS is for patients struggling to understand their rare diagnosis. These Zoom meetings attract patients from all over the globe, and not only are we sharing lifesaving information, we’ve built a strong community - old-timers surviving and thriving, whether in remission or cured by bone marrow transplant, those struggling to find the right treatment, hospital or doctor, and the newly diagnosed, looking for hope and inspiration - which they get.
Bone marrow failure disease can strike any person, of any age, any gender, or any race, anywhere in the world. 50+ people each day are diagnosed with a bone marrow failure disease in the United States alone. Most have never heard of their disease. All are searching for answers, support & hope. AAMDSIF depends on your support as we reach out to help more people with more programs and services they need. Your gifts fund patient education and support services, research, advocacy and awareness programs. You’ll also be helping to spread awareness about these diseases.
